Cramped housing and work often consisting of hard manual labour contributed to Glasgow's reputation as a hard-drinking city, with a pub on every corner. Most of these 'locals' are long-gone now, but a few do remain. In recent years a general increase in attention paid to the quality of beers available has been reflected in Glasgow too. Our favourite places in which to drink are listed below.
