Power and Charging

The UK's mains electricity voltage is 220V give or take. Many power supplies for computers etc are switched-mode and can cope with this: however not every device can. Make sure yours can before bringing them to the UK.

The UK uses a 3 pin plug and socket known as a Type G. You are likely to need to have adapters for your devices. For people coming from the USA and Canada, Amazon sell a power strips with a Type G plug and a number of Type A/B sockets (USA/Canada/elsewhere) and sometimes USB sockets too. This is one example.

It's becoming more common for power sockets in hotels to have USB outlets, but it is no way guaranteed. Make sure to bring sufficient power adapters for all your needs as you can't rely on your hotel having any spare.
