===== The Tenement House =====

[[wp>Tenement|Tenement Houses]] are common in Glasgow --- usually eight apartments over four floors, sharing a common access door.

It shows a slice of life of Glasgow of a comfortably living person in the early 20th Century.

===== The Necropolis =====

[[wp>>Glasgow_Necropolis|The Necropolis]] is a Victorian garden cemetery full of wonderful architecture, sculpture and fascinating stories. Adjacent to Glasgow Cathedral, the Necropolis was modeled on Père-Lachaise in Paris. It is estimated that something in the order of 50,000 burials have taken place here, with around 3,500 tombs.

===== Sighthill Stone Circle =====

{{:sighthillstonecircle.jpeg?400 |}}Sighthill Stone Circle was constructed in 1979 --- the first astronomically accurate stone circle constructed in the United Kingdom for 3000 years. It was built via the Glasgow Parks Department Astronomy Project, led by SF Author [[wp>duncan_lunan|Duncan Lunan]].

The stones were removed in 2016 wile the area underwent redevelopment including the demolition of the area's tower blocks. They were reinstated in 2019 in a new location around 250m distant from the original, previously unusable because of the proximity of the tower blocks. The new location incorporates previously unrealised elements of the 1979 installation, and is now astronomically more accurate because of the increase in precision of computation and of surveying in the intervening 40 years.

The site is wheelchair-accessible.

The [[https://fossilgroveglasgow.org/|Fossil Grove]] is an unique earth heritage site with eleven fossil tree stumps from the Carboniferous Period. They are about 330 million years old, and preserved where they grew.
