It was built via the Glasgow Parks Department Astronomy Project, led by SF Author [[wp>duncan_lunan|Duncan Lunan]]. The stones were removed in 2016 wile the area underwent redevelopment including the demolition of the area's tower blocks. They were reinstated in 2019 in a new location around 250m distant from the original, previously unusable because of the proximity of the tower blocks. The new location incorporates previously unrealised elements of the 1979 installation, and is now astronomically more accurate because of the increase in precision of computation and of surveying in the intervening 40 years. The site is wheelchair-accessible.
